Comprehensive Day Treatment & Partial Hospitalization Programming

Continuum Recovery Center recognizes that true healing takes time. Through our partial hospitalization program, a holistic approach to treating substance abuse disorders, our staff of medical practitioners and therapists work collectively with each patient, assessing and reassessing needs, and adjusting treatment programs.

In addition, we realize that some people are better able to accept new ways of thinking and being, by spending more time in treatment, away from the distractions of the modern world.

To accommodate the diverse needs of our clients, we offer several types of long term addiction treatment, including Comprehensive Day Treatment & Partial Hospitalization Programming.

What is a Partial Hospitalization Program & Day Treatment

Partial hospitalization programs (PHPs) provide daylong treatment for those working on their recoveries. This program is a great choice for those who no longer require around-the-clock supervision but still benefit from a structured setting. During the day, clients receive treatment and have access to holistic therapies like nutritional counseling and acupuncture. On the evenings and weekends, clients can practice the tools they’re learning in recovery and gradually transition into a normal routine.

Benefits to a partial hospitalization program are:

  • Regular interactions with behavioral health professionals
  • Personalized health care based on your needs
  • Access to individual and group therapy
  • Affordable treatment with no overnight stays
  • Easier transition into everyday life

What to Expect from a Partial Hospitalization Program?

Partial Hospitalization Programming (PHP) is a structured treatment program that runs for several hours a day, three to five days a week. Clients participate in scheduled treatment sessions during the day and then return home at night. Because day programs take up more time than standard outpatient programs, you might have to take a leave of absence from work. Luckily, this is only temporary. As you make progress in treatment, you can move to a lower level of care and return to a more normal routine.

So what happens during a typical day in PHP? On the days you attend the program, you will spend time in group and individual therapy, psycho-education, skill building and relapse prevention. If you’re on medication, you can also meet with your doctor during this time. Many PHP programs also include family therapy so that clients can work on improving their family dynamics.

Lunch is served at day programs, but you are responsible for your other meals. Because Continuum Recovery Center is a holistic treatment facility, all clients have access to alternative treatments such as nutritional counseling, music therapy, art therapy, acupuncture, yoga and mindfulness meditation.

How Do I Know if I Need PHP or Day Treatment?

With so many different treatment programs available, it can be hard to determine what type of treatment is best for you or a loved one. Here are some of the signs that a partial hospitalization program is the right fit for you:

  • You’ve completed some treatment. PHP is a step down from an inpatient or residential program and offers a structured setting without the need to stay overnight.

  • Your symptoms are stable. While you may need additional support, the symptoms of a mental health or substance abuse problem should be stable.

  • You have a strong support network at home. Outpatient programs in general are best for people who have a good support network at home. If you are lacking this, you may benefit from more intensive treatment or a sober home.

  • You are motivated to participate in treatment. We find that the best candidates for PHP are those who are engaged in their recoveries. You will be responsible for driving back and forth to treatment and attending your therapy sessions on time.

Keep in mind that all clients receive a full assessment before being placed into one of our programs. If we feel that you can benefit from a higher or lower level of care, we will recommend something other than our PHP.

How Long Does a Partial Hospitalization Program Last?

Day treatment involves therapy for several hours a day, three to five days a week. We recommend at least 45-60 days in PHP, as opposed to the 30 days recommended for outpatient care. This added length of time spent in treatment allows clients to gain a deeper understanding of their addiction and further healing from past trauma and toxic relationships.

It’s important to know that each person’s journey is unique. Focus on reaching your goals and growing stronger in your recovery rather than on how long you have to be in treatment. A few months of work is worth a lifetime of sobriety.

Comprehensive Day Treatment For Those Transitioning Back to Daily Living

Many clients do well with holistic care that lasts from 30 to 45 days. During their time here, your loved one is immersed in therapeutic treatments, Group Therapy, Individual Therapy, and Family Therapy.

Transformation happens as they learn new life skills and can apply them in new relationships made at our facility, as well as with family, friends, and coworkers. Clients value the built-in freedom and flexibility of our programs, making the transition to normal, everyday life much easier.

For those who require a lengthier stay, our comprehensive Day Treatment program provides additional time to solidify facets of addiction recovery. Clients receive the same therapies as our other programs but for an extended period of time, from 45 to 60 days. This additional time allows for a deeper understanding of family problems, previous trauma or grief, as well as other Dual Diagnosis conditions.
